please tell me the cheapest place to purchase a release switch, been looking everywhere and Sony? overcharges (they use the same release switch as Canon)

My 40D has just shown error 99 , it had shot 7,800 images in just over 3 years, canon service has just told me it will take $435 AUD to replace the shutter assy. they are only bringing sub $400 on ebay, bad value IMO. will dump it and lens and flash on ebay and buy another brand. this video is too fast? to see how to effect a DIY repair.

It waits until 1 day after your guarantee ends and then fails. Then when you pay €400 to Canon? to fix it, they give you a 180 day guarantee and reset the timer so that it fails again after 181 days and charge you €600. At this point you tell them to stick it up their ass.
