Hey all, this tutorial will show you haw to give more memory to your Minecraft server to stop it from crashing, lagging and in some cases, in order to make it play. If you have the error code below, this should solve your problem: Connection Lost Internal exception: java.net.SocketTimoutException: Read timed out OR java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space ---------------------------------------- ­---------------------------------------- ­---- Instructions: 1. Open Terminal, then type "ls" 2. Put all you server files on your desktop 3. Then go back into terminal and type in "cd desktop" 4. Then type "ls" again 5. Then type in "cd minecraft_server.jar" 6. when i do it it works but it won't let me close terminal, when i do? it shuts the server off, and when i turn my server back on on its own it returns to having no memory
plz help!
You need to keep terminal running while using your server, otherwise it will shut the? server down like you experienced, so just minimise it or something in the meantime. To fix the other problem, you need to do this every time you want to set up your server, not just the once. Thanks for watching, i hope this helps!
Does this work for singleplayer beacause every time i go on it's says that minecraft has run out of memory and tells me to restart? it, anyone know how to solve this??
Nope this is only allocating memory to the Minecraft server. You may be using a computer that is not powerful enough to run Minecraft. If you have a Mac you could try following this video, but instead put your minecraft.jar on the desktop, and? follow the instructions of the video. Make sure that in the parts where you have to type "cd minecraft_server.jar", just type in "cd minecraft.jar". Hope this helps!
